Two space-based approaches to the same star

Solar Shield is an umbrella for two related space engineering concepts, both built around one question: what do we do about the Sun’s energy once it reaches near-Earth space?

• Solar Shield Swarm — a distributed swarm of gram-scale reflective sails stationed near the Sun-Earth L1 point, designed to reduce solar insolation reaching Earth.
• SBSP Harvester — a satellite concept for collecting solar energy in Earth orbit and beaming it to a ground receiver, in the spirit of ESA’s SOLARIS program.
